PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing F1 seeds of biennial crops, especially beet, suppressing a cost of storing mother roots, safely performing hibernation of mother roots, and using mother roots cultivated in a paper cylinder and suitable for machine planting.SOLUTION: The method for producing the seeds includes sowing seeds of biennial plants in a paper cylinder followed by vernalizing so as to obtain paper cylinder seedlings, fix planting the paper cylinder seedlings in a field in spring followed by developing flower stalks and fructifying, and gathering the seeds. Since the method for producing the seeds enables machine fix planting using a transplanting machine, it is possible to achieve efficient fix planting compared to a conventional mother root storing method of performing fix planting of mother roots by manual operation, and safe hibernation becomes possible.COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT【課題】母根の貯蔵にコストが抑えられ、母根の越冬が安全に行われ、機械植えに適する紙筒栽培母根を用いた、2年生作物、特にビートのF1種子の生産方法を提供することを課題とする。【解決手段】2年生植物の種を紙筒内に播種し、春化処理をして紙筒苗を得、該紙筒苗を春に圃場に定植することにより、抽苔、結実させて採種する。該種子の生産方法は、移植機を用いた機械定植が可能であるため、従来の手作業による母根の定植を行う母根貯蔵方式に比べて効率的な定植が実現でき、安全な越冬が可能である。【選択図】 図1
