A system, device and method for locating a medical instrument during a procedure includes an imaging device (102) configured to image a region of interest. A medical instrument (114) has a magnetic portion (124). A signal generator (116) is configured to be coupled to the imaging device and generate an encoded magnetic fluctuation pattern having a temporal relationship with scanning by the imaging device to cause oscillation of a magnetic field in the region of interest. The magnetic fluctuation pattern causes the magnetic portion to correspondingly vibrate to identify the magnetic portion in an image of the region of interest.La présente invention concerne un système, un dispositif et un procédé pour localiser un instrument médical pendant une procédure qui comprend un dispositif dimagerie (102) configuré pour limagerie dune région dintérêt. Un instrument médical (114) a un composant magnétique (124). un générateur de signal (116) est configuré pour être couplé au dispositif dimagerie et générer un profil de fluctuation magnétique codé ayant une relation temporelle avec le balayage par le dispositif dimagerie pour causer une oscillation dun champ magnétique dans la région dintérêt.
