SOLUTION: The glucose uptake promoter and the agent for inhibiting a rise in blood sugar level comprise a naringenin derivative represented by general formula (R1is a hexose-n molecule number (n&ne0) and a pentose-m molecule number (m&ne0) R2is a hydrogen atom * indicates isomer) and/or an extract containing the naringenin derivative as an active ingredient. The food and beverage contains them.
