The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising benzene propane nitrile, 4-methoxy--[2-(2-methylphenyl)hydrazinylidene]--oxo-, or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as an active component for preventing or treating cancer. According to the present invention, benzene propane nitrile, 4-methoxy--[2-(2-methylphenyl)hydrazinylidene]--oxo-, or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof induces autophagocytosis of cancer cells specific to mitochondria and, as a result, causes apoptosis of cancer cells.본 발명은 벤젠프로판나이트릴, 4-메톡시-α-[2-(2-메틸페닐)하이드라지닐리덴]-β-oxo- 또는 이의 약학적으로 허용 가능한 염을 유효성분으로 포함하는 암 예방 또는 치료용 약학 조성물에 관한 것이다.본 발명에 따르면 벤젠프로판나이트릴, 4-메톡시-α-[2-(2-메틸페닐)하이드라지닐리덴]-β-oxo- 또는 이의 약학적으로 허용 가능한 염은 암세포의 미토콘드리아 특이적 자가포식을 유도하여 결과적으로 암세포 사멸을 일으킬 수 있다.
