A releasable catch 10 comprises a body 12 having a first elongate portion 14 and a second elongate portion 16, the first and second elongate portions being engaged with one another at a pivot point 18 and pivotable relative to one another about the pivot point between an open configuration (figure 2) in which the second elongate portion contacts the first elongate portion at a first contact location 20 to define a first closed aperture 22 adjacent the pivot point and a second open aperture 26 distal to the pivot point, and a closed configuration in which the second elongate portion also engages the first elongate portion at a second contact location 24 along its length and closes the second aperture 26 distal to the pivot point, and wherein the catch further comprises a biasing mechanism located adjacent the pivot point and arranged to bias the catch in the closed configuration. The present invention further provides a dog lead incorporating such a releasable catch.
