FIELD: ecology.SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ecology and can be used to monitor the state of disturbed lands in the areas of development of gas fields in the Far North. To do this, after reclamation of disturbed lands, a comprehensive study of soil samples of the reclaimed and uncontaminated background is conducted. Further in the samples the following chemical indices are determined: acidity and content of chemical substances, namely nitrates, benz(a)pyrene, cobalt, lead, zinc, copper, nickel, trivalent chromium, arsenic, manganese, vanadium, fluorine, cadmium, potassium chloride, antimony, mercury, phosphorus, general nitrogen and petroleum products. Based on the results obtained, the total index of soil chemical contamination is calculated. Following geobotanical indices are also determined: projective covering of plants, average height of vegetative shoots, total share of viable plants from among all species, the total biomass of plants, the growth of plant biomass in comparison with the previous year,
