A magnetic field generator that comprises at least three groups of magnets, the magnetic moment of each magnet being rotatable about a rotation axis, wherein each group comprises at least two magnets, and each group has an orientation in the sense that the rotation axes of the magnetic moments of the magnets of the same group extend in the group's orientation.
