[PROBLEMS] To inhibit the excess increase in body weight induced by various causes and to reduce the overweight. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] Disclosed are: a composition comprising D-psicose for use in the inhibition of the excess increase in body weight and/or the reduction in overweight； and a composition comprising D-psicose for use in the prevention of obesity and/or the amelioration of obeseness. In the compositions, D-psicose is added in an amount of 1 to 90% by weight based on the total weight of the composition, and D-psicose means a chemical compound D-psicose and/or a derivative thereof. Also disclosed are: a method for the inhibition of the excess increase in body weight and/or the reduction in overweight in a person and/or an animal who needs the inhibition or the reduction, the method comprising administering the composition to the person or animal； and a method for the prevention of obesity and/or the amelioration of obeseness in a person or an animal who needs the prevention or the amelioration, the method comprising administering the composition to the person or animal.
