The purpose of the present invention is to provide an endoscope in which an observation field-of-view can be easily changed using one operation member, and which performs display such that display image up-down and left-right directions and an observation direction always match, even if the observation field-of-view is changed. To achieve the foregoing, provided is an endoscope comprising: an image pickup unit 20 which includes an image pickup element 21 an optical axis bending optical system for guiding light rays from a subject towards the image pickup unit an operation input means 3 which is oscillatable an operation conversion means 25 which resolves the input of the operation input means and generates a plurality of outputs and an operation transmission means which transmits the output of the operation conversion means to a plurality of moveable units. The optical axis bending optical system includes: a first prism 11 which is supported so as to freely rotate about a second optical axis O2 and a second prism 12 which is supported so as to freely rotate about a third optical axis O3.
