An extract and/or herbal fraction and pharmaceutical preparation include extract of Phaleria macrocarpa which for the purpose of this invention, is referred to as DLBS1449. The herbal extract according to the teaching of this invention is effectively applicable to inhibit the expression and activity of Cholesteryl Ester Transferase Protein (CETP), increase HDL cholesterol level, decrease LDL cholesterol level without raising blood pressure therefore it is further applicable in atherosclerosis therapy.Extrait et/ou fraction végétale et préparation pharmaceutique contenant un extrait de Phaleria macrocarpa qui dans le cadre de la présente invention est désigné DLBS1449. L'extrait végétal selon l'enseignement de la présente invention peut être efficacement appliqué pour inhiber l'expression et l'activité de la protéine ester cholestérylique transférase (CETP), augmenter le taux des HDL cholestéroliques, abaisser le taux des LDL cholestéroliques sans élever la pression sanguine et peut, par conséquent, être en outre appliqué aux thérapies anti-athérosclérotiques.
