PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide resin particles which are excellent in redispersibility in an alcoholic organic solvent, and a dispersion, an external preparation, and a coating using the same.SOLUTION: The resin particles are composed of a polymer of a mixture of monomers, wherein the mixture of monomers includes: 20-50 wt.% of a mono(meth)acrylate-based monomer which has an ethylenically unsaturated group only in a (meth)acrylic acid residue and includes at least one of an ether group and an ester group and a hydroxy group in an alcoholic residue and 50-80 wt.% of another vinyl monomer which is a vinyl monomer having an ethylenically unsaturated group other than the mono(meth)acrylate-based monomer. The content of a multifunctional vinyl monomer having two or more ethylenically unsaturated groups is 1 wt.% or less in the mixture of monomers, and the coefficient of variation of the particle diameter is 40% or less.
