FIELD: medicine, pharmaceutics.SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to mouthwash, containing basic amino acid together with a preservative, and to a method of its application. The mouthwash contains a water solution of the basic amino acid - arginine in the free form or in the form of salt in an amount, corresponding to 0.01 to 2 wt % of the total composition weight, where the weight of the basic amino acid is calculated per a free base form, and an effective amount of the preservative, selected from combinations of methylisothiazolinone (MIT) with benzyl alcohol and/or phenoxyethanol and a combination of phenoxyethanol and benzyl alcohol. The presevatives are applied in the following amount: MIT 0.0005-0.03 wt %, benzyl alcohol 0.05-0.25 wt %, phenoxyethanol 0.1-0.7 wt %.
