PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit auscultatory sounds obtained at appropriate places on a patients body easily and at a lower cost. SOLUTION: The first unit (1001) is provided with following parts: An electric auscultator (10) obtains auscultatory sounds and outputs signals equivalent to auscultatory sounds. A computer (1006) compresses and codes the signals equivalent to auscultatory sounds obtained at appropriate places on a patients body to meet the conditions that the sampling frequency be more than 8 kHz and less than 15 kHz and that the bitrate be more than 8 kbps and less than 20 kbps and files signals of auscultatory sounds according to the appropriate places. A modem (1007) or a Personal Handyphone System (1007) transmits those filed signals of auscultatory sounds through a telephone line or an ISDN line under a condition of a communication band with more than 150 Hz and less than 7 kHz.
