A steam steriliser for use in a healthcare facility is described. The steriliser has a chamber or cavity for holding several containers or vessels, each having a rimmed opening (7), a snap fit lid (15) and a conduit (8) that is a fluid pathway for fluid or steam. The steriliser also has a fluid outlet or vacuum and a steam inlet (26). Fluid is extracted from the chamber by a vacuum (27) and steam introduced in order to sterilize surgical tools in the containers. The conduit can be sealed to protect the contents.
