PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide pharmaceutical compositions for preventing or treating sarcopenia, and to provide health functional food compositions for preventing or improving sarcopenia.SOLUTION: There is disclosed a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating sarcopenia containing Daucus carota extract, the Daucus carota extract containing ginsenosides Rh2 and Rh3 in an amount of 0.5 to 30% by weight each. A health functional food composition for preventing or improving sarcopenia containing Daucus carota extract is also provided, the Daucus carota extract containing ginsenosides Rh2 and Rh3 by 0.5 to 30% by weight each. There is disclosed a method using the composition to prevent or treat particularly cancer associated fatigue.
