A xanthophyll composition that contains macular pigments including trans-lutein and zeaxanthin isomers, namely, (R,R)-zeaxanthin and (R,S)-zeaxanthin, derived from the plant extract/oleoresin containing xanthophylls/xanthophylls esters which is safe for human consumption and useful for nutrition and health care. The composition has at least 80% by weight that is total xanthophylls, of which the ratio of trans-lutein and zeaxanthin isomers being in the range of about 4:1 to about 6:1 and the ratio of the isomers of zeaxanthin being in the range of about 80 to 20:20 to 80.크산토필/크산토필 에스테르를 함유하는 식물 추출물/함유수지(oleoresin)로부터 유도된, 트랜스-루테인과 제아크산틴 이성질체, 즉 (R,R)-제아크산틴 및 (R,S)-제아크산틴을 포함하는 황반 색소를 함유하는, 인간이 소비하기에 안전하고 영양 및 건강관리에 유용한 크산토필 조성물. 상기 조성물은 총 크산토필이 적어도 80중량%이고, 이 중 트랜스-루테인과 제아크산틴 이성질체의 비율은 약 4:1 내지 약 6:1이며 제아크산틴의 상기 이성질체들의 비율은 80 내지 20 : 20 내지 80의 범위이다.
