To assess regional oxygen uptake and/or perfusion in a patient, a volume of airinhaled by the patient is determined and, according to a method of electricalimpedance tomography, a first regional lung volume is measured at a first timepoint of a breathold procedure. The first regional lung volume is compared toa second regional lung volume at a second time point of the breathold procedure.
