This invention relates to a method and a device for purifying and/ orseparating preferably high melting organic raw products or compound mixturescontaining, in particular, high melting and/ or degradable sterols, by layercrystallisation on first heat exchanger surfaces. The raw product is receivedin a solvent or solvent mixture, and then brought into contact with heatexchanger surfaces. The desired product crystallises on the heat exchangersurfaces by slow cooling. Solvent evaporating during the crystallisation orsweating process is condensed and returned to the mixture.
