Disclosed herein is a process for the preparation of tolylpyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidin-4(3H)-one derivatives represented by the general formula (1409), which comprises reacting a compound of Formula (1407) with a 3-halo-4-amine-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidin represented by the formula shown herein, wherein the substituents are as defined within the specification. These compounds are useful for inhibiting catalytic activity of phosphatidyl inositol-3 kinase (PI3 Kinase) present in a cell and therefore are useful in the treatment of cancer, bone disorders, inflammatory disease, immune disease, nervous system disease, metabolic disease, respiratory disease, thrombosis, or cardiac disease. Also disclosed is a process for the preparation of tolylisoquinolin-1(2H)-one derivatives represented by the general formula (1606).
