A method for biostimulation of a body portion of a subject to be treated is herewith provided, comprising irradiating the skin of the body portion to be treated with a first dose of light so as to heat a surface layer of the skin with a rate of temperature increase of at least about 0,04 degrees Celsius per second and irradiating the body portion with a second dose of light as a function of a property of the body portion indicative of vasodilatation. A device for use in the method is also provided. The device comprises a light source. A portion of the device is a patch which is formed for conforming to at least part of the body portion. The device is configured to irradiate the body portion and thereby provide a temperature increase of a surface layer of the skin at a rate of at least 0,04 degrees Celsius per second. The device further comprises a sensor for measuring at least one parameter of the body portion indicative of a vasodilatation.
