PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polypeptide angiopoietin inhibitor capable of discriminating between angiopoietin-2 (Ang2) and angiopoietin-1 (Ang1) to solve the problem in which an increase in Ang2 levels by disease causes competition with Ang1 for binding to a common interface on Tie2 thereby blocking the pro-quiescent effects of Ang1.SOLUTION: Disclosed herein is a polypeptide comprising a modified angiopoietin receptor or fragment thereof, wherein the polypeptide binds preferentially to angiopoietin-2 compared to angiopoietin-1.
