New nicotine hapten compounds which can be used for in vivo production of antibodies which bind nicotine and specifically the present invention provides a nicotine immunoconjugate. The present invention also provides methods of using vaccines that contain nicotine immunoconjugate in passive immunization protocols or active immunization.
