Disclosed is a use of amnion-derived adherent cells (AMDACs) in the preparation of a medicament for treating an individual having or at risk of developing a disease or disorder associated with or caused by an inappropriate or unwanted immune response, wherein the AMDACs (i) are OCT-4&ndash as determinable by RT-PCR, (ii) are adherent to tissue culture plastic, (iii) are not amniotic epithelial cells and (iv) do not comprise human totipotent cells and wherein the disease or disorder is not cardiomyopathy.
