An ultrasonic system and method with adaptive overflow and gain control is provided, and the main technology of the present disclosure is to use two-stage gain controls to improve signal noise ratio (SNR) and to achieve the correct analysis of the results. The first stage uses an analog gain, and this first stage will immediately monitor whether the signal may be overflow (over flow) or the signal’s strength is too weak to adjust the gain value, not overflow as the goal, and try to amplify the gain value to improve the signal and SNR value. The second stage uses a digital gain to receive all the gained data with a gain value after all the first-stage analog gain is adjused, and gained data with a gain segment is continuously taken out the data in chronological order. The gained data with the gain segment is converted to the same gained data segment of the same gain.
