Disclosed is an isolated protein having the amino acid sequence according to SEQ ID NO: 4 or SEQ ID NO: 6, or an active fragment or derivative thereof capable of inducing an immune response to said protein, or an active fragment or derivative capable of binding to an antibody produced by a subject in an immune response against said protein, wherein the sequences are as defined in the complete specification. Also disclosed is the use of an isolated protein having the amino acid sequence according to SEQ ID NO: 4 or SEQ ID NO: 6, or an active fragment or derivative thereof capable of inducing an immune response to said protein, or an active fragment or derivative capable of binding to an antibody produced by a subject in an immune response against said protein, in the manufacture of a medicament for the treatment or prevention of a disease caused by Treponema spp.
