The invention relates to a battery cage for poultry farming, having the following features: - at least two horizontal cage rows (11; 11.1, 11.2, 11.3), formed with cage enclosures (12.1, 12.2, 12.3), are arranged alongside one another; - a plurality of the cage enclosures (12.1, 12.2, 12.3) are formed with double cages (13-13) made up of cages (13) that back on to one another in pairs; - under each of the cage rows (11; 11.1, 11.2, 11.3) there extends a droppings receptacle (20), over which air-compartment flaps (32) are arranged in a longitudinally spaced-apart manner, said air-compartment flaps (32) each having an upper force-transmission part (146) and a lower compartment part (147) and each being mounted on a transverse axis (33) that is arranged in the region of an upper air-compartment-flap end (54) of the particular air-compartment flap (32); - the air-compartment flaps (32) are assigned pivot drives, which have drive rods (37; 37.1, 37.2, 37.3) that are drivable back and forth, extend in the longitudinal direction through the battery cage (10) at a distance from the transverse axes (33) and act on the air-compartment flaps (32); - the two cages (13) of each double cage (13-13) have cage bottoms (16) that extend away from one another in a transverse direction (27); - the two cages (13) of each double cage (13-13) are separated from one another in each case by a common vertical longitudinal rear wall (26) that is arranged at a vertical spacing above the upper air-flap end (54); - the compartment part (147) of the air-compartment flap (32) is arranged under the cage bottoms (16) of the cages (13) of the associated double cage (13-13); - the air-compartment-flap end (54) is arranged in a double-cage area (55), from which the cage bottoms (16) extend away from one another in the transverse direction (27).
