The present disclosure describes non-aqueous hair bleaching and coloring compositions, method of manufacturing same, and methods of use. In various embodiments, non-aqueous hair bleaching and coloring compositions comprise silicate, silica, peroxy salt, and a dye dispersed in a hydrocarbon carrier. Compositions according to the present disclosure comprise ingredients having strictly controlled particle sizes of less than about 0.180 mm average size (passing through Tyler 80 mesh screen size), alkalinities less than about 10% Na2O titratable to pH ˜4.5, and viscosities of at least about 1,500,000 cps at 25° C.
