PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anti-inflammatory agent derived from a lactobacillus which has all of an excellent inhibitory action on TNF-&alpha； expression, inhibitory action on IL-8 mRNA expression, and stimulatory action on TGF-&bgr；1 mRNA expression, and can suppress auto-immune disorders.SOLUTION: The present invention provides an anti-inflammatory agent comprising Lactobacillus plantarum, and having an inhibitory action on TNF-&alpha； expression, an inhibitory action on IL-8 mRNA expression, and a stimulatory action on TGF-&bgr；1 mRNA expression. The Lactobacillus plantarum used in the present invention is preferably accession number FERM AP-21411.【課題】優れたＴＮＦ－α発現抑制作用、ＩＬ－８ｍＲＮＡ発現抑制作用、及びＴＧＦ－β１ｍＲＮＡ発現促進作用のいずれの作用をも有し、自己免疫疾患を抑制できる乳酸菌由来の抗炎症剤の提供。【解決手段】本発明は、ラクトバシルス・プランタラム（Ｌａｃｔｏｂａｃｉｌｌｕｓｐｌａｎｔａｒｕｍ）を含み、ＴＮＦ－α発現抑制作用、ＩＬ－８ｍＲＮＡ発現抑制作用、及びＴＧＦ－β１ｍＲＮＡ発現促進作用を有する抗炎症剤である。また、本発明において使用するラクトバシルス・プランタラム（Ｌａｃｔｏｂａｃｉｌｌｕｓｐｌａｎｔａｒｕｍ）が、受託番号ＦＥＲＭ ＡＰ－２１４１１であることが好ましい。【選択図】なし
