The present invention relates to a tumble breading system for applying a breading material (152) to a food (160). The system comprises a rotary assembly (130) for fitting with a breading machine, proximate an infeed to the machine, the rotary assembly (130). The rotary assembly (130) is having a first tumbler (128) with a plurality of first channels (138), for consecutively accepting the food from the infeed as the tumbler (128) rotates to expose subsequent first channels (138), and for rotating the food (160) with the breading material (152), within the first channels (138) and at least a second tumbler (128) offset beneath the first tumbler (128) and having a plurality of second channels (138) for consecutively accepting the food (160) and the breading material (152) from the plurality of first channels (138), as the second tumbler (128) rotates opposite the first tumbler (128) wherein rotation of the food (160) with the breading material (152) works the breading material (152) into and onto the food (160).
