PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for vertically turning a leg rest and a chair type massage machine which prevents occurrence of a failure in the leg rest.SOLUTION: The massage machine includes: a body frame 7 placed on a floor surface F a seat 1 provided to the body frame 7 to be taken by a user the leg rest 2 attached to the front of the body frame 7 in a manner of being turnable around a horizontal axial center C1 a leg drive 5 which vertically turns the leg rest 2 around the axial center C1 and a massage tool provided to the leg rest 2.
