PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antipruritic agent having excellent effects on intractable skin pruritus, immediate effectiveness in the effects, and high safety, and to provide an antipruritic composition containing the antipruritic agent as an active ingredient.SOLUTION: The antipruritic agent is characterized by including a maltooligosaccharide (A), and at least one kind (B) selected from among an antipruritic and an anti-inflammatory agent as essential active ingredients. At least one kind selected from among di- to nona-saccharides is used as the maltooligosaccharide (A). At least one kind selected from among diphenhydramine, crotamiton, and salts thereof is used as the antipruritic used as the ingredient (B).
