According to the present invention there is provided an animal alimentation device comprising a body, an alimentation area, a lid for said area, a lock for said lid, and a actuation means for the lock； characterised in that said key and the lock are equipped with complimentary characteristics, wherein said characteristics are such that approximation of the key to the lock allows it to as an actuator of the actuation means, and the lid is arranged to be elevated by a separate mechanism.
