PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set optimum conditions for transmission/receiving according to bloodstream parts present on the scanning surface in an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus.SOLUTION: A frequency distribution 46 is created by counting the frequency of presence of the bloodstream by coordinate on the scanning surface over a plurality of frames. The frequency distribution 46 is subjected to an integration projection process on a beam address axis and a depth address axis, so that first and second integration projection distributions are created. A region of interest on the scanning surface is automatically set based on the integration projection distributions, or the depth of a transmission focus point is automatically set.
