PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such the problem that when missing fields are complemented by using an estimated image of low accuracy, a moving image becomes rather unnatural before and after the missing fields.SOLUTION: An electronic endoscope system is configured such that on the basis of a first image and a second image generated by imaging a subject, a second image picked up during a next second irradiation period is predicted, and on the basis of results of comparison between the predicted second image and the second image actually imaged during the next second irradiation period, a determination is made whether or not accuracy of prediction by prediction means is high. The electronic endoscope system estimates the second image that is imaged during a first irradiation period immediately after the next second irradiation period when it is determined that the accuracy of the prediction is high, and displays the estimated second image on a display screen together with the first image imaged during the first irradiation period.
