The present invention relates to the use of a Vif inhibitor and an APOBEC3G (A3G) activator in combination to inhibit HIV infectivity in a host cell and to treat or prevent HIV infection or AIDS in a patient. In one embodiment, the present invention relates to a method for inhibiting infectivity of HIV in a host cell, which method comprises contacting a host cell comprising A3G host defense factor with a combination of antiviral-effective amounts of a Vif inhibitor and an A3G activator, thereby inhibiting infectivity of HIV in the host cell by simultaneously inhibiting Vif-dependent degradation of A3G and activating A3G deaminase activity in the host cell, where the Vif inhibitor inhibits Vif-dependent degradation of A3G by disrupting or inhibiting dimerization of Vif in the host cell, and where the A3G activator activates A3G deaminase activity by disrupting or inhibiting A3G:nucleic acid molecule interaction in the host cell.La présente invention concerne lutilisation dun inhibiteur de Vif en association avec un activateur dAPOBEC3G (A3G) pour inhiber linfectivité du VIH dans une cellule hôte et pour traiter ou prévenir linfection par le VIH ou le SIDA chez un patient. Dans un mode de réalisation, la présente invention concerne un procédé dinhibition de linfectivité du VIH dans une cellule hôte, ledit procédé consistant à mettre une cellule hôte comprenant un facteur de défense hôte A3G en contact avec des quantités efficaces dun point de vue antiviral dune combinaison composée dun inhibiteur de Vif et dun activateur dA3G, ce qui permet dinhiber linfectivité du VIH dans la cellule hôte par linhibition de la dégradation dA3G dépendante de Vif en même tant que lactivation de lactivité A3G déaminase dans la cellule hôte, linhibiteur de Vif inhibant la dégradation dA3G dépendant de Vif par rupture ou inhibition de linteraction A3G/molécules dacide nucléique dans la cellule hôte.
