A device has a hollow guide shell 12 including an injection end 14 and longitudinal axis 20. Actuator magnet 24 is disposed in the hollow guide shell 12. Injection pin 36 is coupled to the actuator magnet 24. Driver magnet 18 is positionedon the device radially outward from the actuator magnet 24. A fluid cartridge 40 is disposed in the injection end 14 of the hollow guide shell 12, the fluid cartridge 40 including a needle 46 and a plunger 44. The driver magnet 18 selectively exerts an injection force on the actuator magnet 24 in a direction oriented towards the injection end 14 of the hollow guide shell 12 to engage the injection pin 36 with the fluid cartridge 40. The device can be used to inject a fluid, gas or other agent into another object.
