A fishing reel has an externally controllable brake system including a brake dial provided on a left side cover outside a spool cover. The brake system is provided between the brake dial and the spool cover so as to externally control a rotary force of a spool. The brake system includes a rotary section rotating together with a rotary motion of the brake dial, and a brake housing provided close to the rotary section so as to laterally slide in response of the rotation of the rotary section, wherein an inner ring is fixed to the brake housing on an inner surface of the spool cover so as to stop the rotary motion of the spool while being guided along the brake housing.본 고안은 좌측 커버에 구비되는 브레이크 다이얼을 조절함에 따라 브레이크 다이얼에 연결되는 외부조절용 브레이크장치가 작동되면서 스풀의 회전력을 간편하게 제어할 수 있게 됨으로써 사용의 편리성 및 제품의 성능을 향상시킬 수 있는 낚시용 릴의 외부조절용 브레이크장치에 관한 것이다.이를 위하여 본 고안은 스풀 커버(90) 외측에 형성되는 좌측 커버(80)에 브레이크 다이얼(200)이 형성되어지고, 상기 브레이크 다이얼(200)과 스풀 커버(90) 사이에 외부에서 스풀(20)의 회전력을 조절할 수 있도록 외부조절 브레이크장치(100)가 형성되어지되 상기 외부조절 브레이크장치(100)는 브레이크 다이얼(200)의 회전에 따라 회전하게 되는 회전구(110)가 형성되어지고 상기 회전구(110)에 밀착되어 회전구(110)의 회전에 따라 좌우로 슬라이드되어지는 브레이크 하우징(120)이 형성되어지며, 상기 스풀 커버(90) 안쪽면에 브레이크 하우징(120)과 고정되어 브레이크 하우징(120)의 가이드에 따라 스풀(20)의 회전을 정지시키게 되는 이너 링(300)을 포함하여 구성되어짐을 특징으로 한다.
