The present invention provides a medical image diagnostic apparatus capable of performing dynamic PET imaging of the whole body simultaneously with a small area required for installation, a short length in the body axis direction of the apparatus, and a reduced problem of the strength of the top plate. A top plate 61 on which a subject is placed is sequentially inserted into a tunnel of a CT gantry 2 and a PET gantry 3 to perform CT imaging and PET imaging. The PET gantry 3 composed of a plurality of (for example, seven) PET units 32 has a length in the body axis direction of about 2 m, and the visual field covers the whole body, enabling dynamic PET imaging of the whole body at the same time. When the PET gantry 3 is maintained, it is separated by an arbitrary PET unit 32 that requires maintenance, and is slid on the rail 31 in the direction of the body axis, and is separated. Therefore, there is little space for maintenance and the area required for installation is small.【課題】設置に必要な面積が少なく、装置の体軸方向の長さが短く、天板の強度の問題も軽減された、全身を同時にダイナミックＰＥＴ撮像可能な医用画像診断装置を提供する。【解決手段】被検者を載置した天板６１を順次ＣＴガントリ２およびＰＥＴガントリ３のトンネルに挿入してＣＴ撮像およびＰＥＴ撮像を行う。複数（例えば７個）のＰＥＴユニット３２で構成されたＰＥＴガントリ３は体軸方向の長さが約２ｍであり、視野は全身をカバーし、全身を同時にダイナミックＰＥＴ撮像可能である。ＰＥＴガントリ３のメンテナンスに際しては、メンテナンスを必要とする任意のＰＥＴユニット３２で切り離し体軸方向にレール３１上をスライドさせ、分離して作業を行う。したがってメンテナンス用のスペースが少なく設置に必要な面積が少ない。
