In the present invention, provided is a composition for inhibiting the formation of fat cells including 3,4`-dihydroxyflavone (DHF) as an active ingredient. In addition, the present invention relates to a method for inhibiting the expression of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) gamma of cells manufactured by treating 3,4`-dihydroxyflavone in precursor fat cell. In the present invention, 3,4`-dihydroxyflavone has effects of reducing the activity of MEK/ERK and accordingly inhibiting the formation of fat cells.
