<；P>；PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anticholesterol agent including, as active principles, components originating from royal jelly (RJ). <；P>；SOLUTION: An ethanol solution of royal jelly is treated with chloroform, ethyl acetate, and normal butanol to remove soluble components and collect an acidic water-soluble extract. The acidic extract and the acidic water-soluble extract having a molecular weight of less than 10,000 among the royal jelly components have the action suppressing the expression of squalene epoxidase (SE) gene.
