The present invention relates to a method for the treatment of a surface-reacted calcium carbonate, wherein the treatment agent is selected from the group consisting of ascorbic acid and/or salts thereof, gallic acid and/or salts thereof, unsaturated fatty acids and/or salts thereof, elemental iron, iron (II)-salts, iron (II)-comprising oxides, iron (II, III)-comprising oxides and mixtures thereof, a treated surface-reacted calcium carbonate as well as a use of the treated surface-reacted calcium carbonate as oxygen scavenger.本發明係關於一種處理經表面反應之碳酸鈣的方法，其中處理劑選自由以下組成之群：抗壞血酸及/或其鹽、五倍子酸及/或其鹽、不飽和脂肪酸及/或其鹽、元素鐵、鐵(II)鹽、包含鐵(II)之氧化物、包含鐵(II,III)之氧化物及其混合物；經處理之經表面反應之碳酸鈣以及經處理之經表面反應之碳酸鈣作為氧氣清除劑的用途。
