The method for producing potatoes with shoots which are resistant to frost comprises storing the tubers with the shoots upwards in boxes in an unheated greenhouse for a year. Those tubers which do not survive this treatment are removed and the others planted in the spring. Some tubers are subjected to a second year of the same treatment, when the shape of the shoots is different. The tubers, or the shoots separated from the tubers, are then planted. The method is especially suitable for 'Peace' potatoes (No. 3044 - Hanover type protection, 27.3.95)
