To provide a fishing reel having a magnetic braking device capable of coping with casting from short casting to long casting according to various situation changes of a fishing place.
SOLUTION: The fishing reel includes an axial movement holding mechanism 50 equipped with a magnet holder 53 provided at a support plate 51 mounted to a side plate constituting a reel body and holding one or both of an inside magnet 41 and an outside magnet 42 in an axially movable manner to change an overlap area with an annular conductor 30 and also holding either one of the magnets rotatably. Initial magnetic braking force and terminal magnetic braking force applied to the annular conductor 30 can be regulated by changing the overlap area of the inside magnet 41 and outside magnet 42 with the annular conductor 30, and magnetic braking force to the annular conductor 30 can be regulated by rotating one of the inside magnet 41 and outside magnet 42.
