PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underpants type absorbent article which is easily pulled up to the waist of a wearer, and does not damage stretchability of a waist opening further.SOLUTION: The underpants type absorbent article 200 includes: an absorption body part 10 having a liquid permeable top sheet 4, a liquid impermeable back sheet 6, and an absorber 2 arranged between the top sheet and the back sheet and an exterior sheet 20 which extends around the body part while overlapping the body part on the outer side of the back sheet, has a front side area 21 for covering the waist and a crotch part on the abdominal side of a wearer and a rear side area 22 for covering the waist and the crotch part on the back side of the wearer, and forms the waist opening 201 and a pair of leg openings 202 and 203 to be stretched in a circumferential direction.
