PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a guide wire having excellent vessel followability and entry property into narrowed and occluded vessels.SOLUTION: A guide wire 1 includes a core part 2A composed of a long object having flexibility. The core part 2A includes, in order from a proximal end to a distal end: a body part 3 having a circular cross section a flat plate part 5 and a distal end part 7 coaxially formed with the body part 3 and having a circular cross section. The guide wire 1 includes: a coil part 8 that is installed to cover the distal side of the core part 2A and is formed by spirally forming strands and a fixing part 92 for fixing the distal end 7 to the coil part 8.
