PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent solenoidal wiring from intermingling with saddle-like wiring in a z-gradient magnetic field coil if the shape of a cross section perpendicular to a z-axis of a main coil is different from the shape of a cross section of a shield coil in a gradient magnetic field coil, or if the shapes of the cross sections are similar but the interval between the coils in the circumferential direction is irregular.
SOLUTION: A horizontal magnetic field MRI apparatus includes a ring-shaped static magnetic field coil which generates a static magnetic field a bed device which moves in an opening of the static magnetic field coil and the gradient magnetic field coil which generates a gradient magnetic field whose magnetic strength is inclined and gradient. The gradient magnetic field coil is disposed in such a way that the interval between the gradient magnetic field main coil and the gradient magnetic field shield coil is irregular in the circumferential direction. The z-gradient magnetic field main coil for generating a gradient magnetic field in the direction of advancement of the bed device (in a z-axis direction) has its current channels on a plane perpendicular to the z-axis, and the current channels are stacked in the z-axis direction to make a solenoidal coil.
