PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique of, in photoacoustic imaging, obtaining a photoacoustic signal at an interval shorter than an arrangement interval of reception elements.SOLUTION: A subject information acquisition device includes: a probe where a plurality of reception elements, which each receive an acoustic wave generated from a subject irradiated with light from a light source and convert the acoustic wave into an electric signal, are arranged in a first direction; moving means for moving the probe in the first direction; control means for controlling the light source and the moving means; and generation means for generating data on an internal image of the subject on the basis of the electric signal.
