PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air cleaner capable of certainly purifying polluted air even in a case that the concentration of mercury in the polluted air is high or capable of keeping the concentration of mercury in an indoor atmosphere at a low level by circulating air to repeat purification treatment, and to provide an analyzing chamber equipped with the air cleaner and an air cleaning method using the air cleaner.
SOLUTION: The air cleaner has a fan for sucking mercury vapor-containing air, as a treatment target, into the air cleaner, an irradiation means for irradiating the mercury vapor-containing air, which has been sucked by the fan, with light with a wavelength of 254 nm to form mercury oxide from mercury vapor, and the adsorbing means arranged to the wall surface surrounding the irradiation space of the irradiation means and adsorbing mercury oxide to purify the mercury vapor-containing air.
