According to an embodiment of the present invention, an apparatus for measuring a height using a lower depth image comprises an image receiving unit for receiving an object image frame including a background image frame and a measurement target from a depth information detection unit for generating a depth image； a frame storage unit for storing the background image frame； a frame comparison unit for generating a binary image frame on the basis of the object image frame and the background image frame； and a height estimation unit for estimating the height of a measurement target from the height of an object determined on the basis of a depth value of a pixel corresponding to an object area in the binary image frame and a depth value of a pixel corresponding to the background area. The height of a stopping or walking person can be measured.본 발명의 실시예에 따른 하방의 깊이 영상을 이용한 신장 측정 장치는, 깊이 영상을 생성하는 깊이정보검출부로부터 배경영상 프레임 및 측정 대상자를 포함하는 객체영상 프레임을 수신하는 영상수신부； 상기 배경영상 프레임을 저장하는 프레임저장부； 상기 객체영상 프레임과 상기 배경영상 프레임에 기초하여 이진화영상 프레임을 생성하는 프레임비교부； 상기 이진화영상 프레임 내의 객체 영역에 대응하는 화소의 깊이 값과 배경 영역에 대응하는 화소의 깊이 값에 기초하여 결정된 상기 객체의 높이로부터 측정 대상자의 신장을 추정하는 신장추정부；를 포함하는 하방의 깊이 영상을 이용한 신장 측정 장치를 제공할 수 있다.
