The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for computing noise on a CT image. The method comprises: selecting a region of interest on a current CT image computing a proportion of soft tissues within the region of interest and when the proportion is less than a preset proportion threshold of soft tissues, computing said noise according to a preset noise model and a plurality of scanning parameters employed for generating the current CT image.
